Susan has been a stylist for over 20 years and has been working with Aveda since the beginning of her career. She opened Beau Totale Salon & Spa in June of 1997. Susan has studied and worked closely with many Aveda Purefessionals over the past 20 years. She considers continuing education one of the most important aspects of being a truly great stylist. Her aptitude to listen and adjust to ever changing trends is one of her most appreciated abilities. Additionally, Susan believes that superior customer services are the driving force behind any successful business.
Juan Perez
Master Designer/Aveda Purefessional
Juan’s passion for art and fashion led him from his prior life as a Graphic Designer and Art Director to the doors of the Aveda Institute. He is especially passionate about curly to highly textured hair and is constantly seeking new opportunities to explore all hair types as an artistic expression. During his time in the industry, Juan has had the pleasure of working under the direction of industry greats like Peter Gray, Odile Gilbert and Jon Reyman at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City.
As an Aveda Purefessional, Juan’s philosophy is that ‘inspiration fuels desire’; “to find inspiration, a person needs only to open themselves up to the world they live in, to allow themselves the opportunity to make mistakes, and to let those mistakes fuel new desires”. Juan’s goal is to guide all his students through this process, in every class he teaches, sending them out more confident in their craft.
Monica Herdt
Master Designer
Monica started her career with Aveda in Tulsa, OK and has been with Beau Totale since 2006. Continually advancing techniques and skills through supplementary education is one of Monica’s passions. Monica says that her three best qualities are, “communication, color/highlights, and precision cuts.”
Ali Barret
Senior Designer
Ali's career as a stylist started when she was just 17 years old. She attended the Cosmetology Acadamy at Edison High School. Upon completing all course requirements, Ali joined the Beau Totale team as an assistant to the Owner and transition after a year to a New Talent Stylist. Since 2004, Ali has attended Advanced Academy classes with Aveda on a regular basis. She is a well-rounded stylist and enjoys updo’s and she has been appropriately dubbed, "The Updo Queen."
Sue Hyunh
Senior Designer
Sue began working with Aveda at Beau Totale in 2003. She has completed numerous Aveda classes and is continually advancing her skills. Sue develops strong bonds with her clients and looks forward to seeing them on a regular basis. She is commonly referred to as, “Speedy Gonzales”, “Firecracker” and most endearingly “Suebee”.
Tami Leysalle
Senior Designer
Tami has been a designer for more than 15 years. She has had the opportunity to to train with Aveda in New York, Washington DC and Miami. Tami continues to attend educational classes and conferences on a regular basis. She has a strong focus in color and cutting and loves the artistry of classic special occasion hair designs.
Victoria Butts
New Talent Designer
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from James Madison University, Victoria worked as a receptionist for an Aveda salon where she discovered her passion for hair design. She graduated from the Aveda Institute in Washington, DC and received her cosmetology license in 2010. She continues to take classes and hone her skills in the apprenticeship program at Beau Totale and is very eager to eventually work as a full-time stylist.
Joni Combs
New Talent Designer
Joni graduated from Heritage Institute in Falls Church in 2007. Soon after graduating she began working at Miiko Salon in D.C. as an apprentice under Miko Branch, owner and creator of Miss Jessie’s products. While there, Joni obtained techniques specializing in curly and highly textured hair. With Miss Jessie's, she was able to travel to New York City for hairstyling events and demonstrations. In July of 2008, Join began working at Beau Totale and entered the mentorship program. Mentoring under Juan Perez, Joni is taking advanced styling and cutting classes both with Juan and at the Aveda D.C. Education Center.

Kisha has a strong background in fashion, retail, management and customer service. In other words, she is a very well-rounded individual. Her desire to care for the world ties in directly with Aveda’s mission. Kisha looks forward to developing strong relationships with each individual that walks through the door.
